central saint martins x swarovski, 2019

responding to swarovski’s brief of using their crystals in creating a sustainable approach to design, this performative piece is based on the concept of impermanence, taking the organic shape of a wooden tree branch and transforming it into a sculptural shoulder piece.

documenting the journey of sugar from jewellery to doughnut glaze — to finally be ingested and serve its purpose — it calls attention to the infinite importance of finding value in the transient. what’s left behind is the crystals, to be sent back to swarovski and get recycled, the memory of a short poetic moment, and the possibility of producing something that ultimately becomes nothing.
